Previously I wrote about the difference between Apple and Microsoft in One Sentence, but here I stumbled upon a little video showing the fundamental different philosophies between Apple and Microsoft, as shown in their packaging.
One tries to do everything — offer the customer anything that is technically possible, and ends up in a bloated mess-up. The other boils appliaces down to their essence, and makes them look like a gem.

The difference is that Microsoft creates “tools” and Apple creates “art”. As slick as that “art” may be, it’s the “tools” that make the world run.

Hi Eric,
and thanks for stopping by.
If you are talking about specialized tools, then yes, I would agree. There are way more programs out there written for PC.
Take for example accounting programmes. Here in Norway there are about 15 programmes for the PC and only 1 for the Mac. And the good PC programmes are better than the Mac version.
But for general work stuff, I think that the Mac has done some great catching up.
Say if you want to edit a film, iMovie or Final Cut does make your job easier than the Microsoft offering. Pages by Apple is easier, lighter to use than Word. And Keynote more intuitive than PowerPoint.
I think that Apple has done a very good job on catching up on the tool side. And Microsoft is trying hard to make their tools more cool. And both make mistakes…
