I haven’t used Internet Explorer for quite a while, mainly for two reasons.

  1. The Mac version hasn’t been updated for a couple of years (yes, years)
  2. It’s Ugly
  3. It’s Microsoft
  4. Points #2 and #3 count as one

Today when I checked the stats for this blog I had to smile when I saw the percentages for the browsers at

Firefox 41
Internet Explorer 28
Safari 26

Not only is IE long way from #1, but also Safari is close on it’s heels. Good.

On the bottom end of the percentages we find

Camino 2
Opera 1
Mozilla 1
Konqueror 1

Two of which, Camino and Konqueror, I have never heard of? Are those flavours of Mozilla?

  2. I welcome anything that doesn’t start with Microsoft…

That said, this blog now has a solid 50% Firefox visitor base, followed by 23% Safari, and only then comes at 22% IE. Opera is at 4, and those other two at 1% each.

As far as platforms go, I am very proud to have 52% Mac, and 2% Linux. But of course: thanks to all Windows visitors, too.

  1. [...] As my blog has grown a bit in readership (now I get a safe 3 digit number of hits per day. Up to 727 on lucky tuesday) – Windows and the InternetExploder have regained a huge chunk. Previously Firefox was leading, but now it is a crushingly clear 72% for IE, Firefox is way down at 21%, my dear Safari at 4% and Hallvord’s (internal joke) Opera at 3%. Mozilla, Phoenix, Camino, Netscape, Firebird and Lynx have all 1% or less. What a pity that a browser that ignores some of the web standards, is the de-facto standard browser. [...]
